Trustees’ Week takes place 6-10 November and we’d like to take this opportunity to thank our incredible trustees for their time, commitment and expertise, and also reach out to people who are interested in becoming trustee and helping to support unpaid carers.
Trustees are volunteers who lead charities and decide how they are run. Carer Support Dorset has a Board of Trustees comprising a Chair and up to 12 trustees at any one time. Our trustees ensure that our charity has a clear strategy and that our work and goals are in line with our vision.
Four sub-committees of the Board of Trustees provide more detailed support in the areas of: finance; quality, compliance and volunteering; nominations; and fundraising and publicity.
We are currently looking for four new trustees to join us and welcome all applications, regardless of your skills and experience. There is no one type of person who is a trustee – you simply need to be aged 18 or over. We are looking for at least one trustee with experience of caring for someone or who was a young carer.
Trusteeship can be rewarding in many ways and is also an opportunity to learn new skills that will enhance your CV. As a trustee you learn about the strategic side of running an organisation, being involved in annual budgeting, business planning, measuring impact and company law.

Finally, this Trustees’ Week we would like to thank all of our trustees, past and present, for your time, dedication and commitment to supporting Dorset’s unpaid carers. Your hard work is appreciated by us all.
